"I
will forever treasure the memories of our bike trip through Holland! I
never imagined just how wonderful it would be. How often I said 'you
wouldn't see or experience this on a bus or train'. . . . It was a
wonderful way to see and experience Holland and the Dutch people. I
loved the fresh air and exercise during the day and dressing for a
lovely dinner and mingling with locals in the evening. I would highly
recommend the experience to anyone who can ride a bike! Thank you for
planning a wonderful trip and encouraging me to go! Julie C., Marysville, WA
Warning! On this trip, you may become addicted to:
Cycling past storybook scenery. . . meeting friendly people. . . indulging in local cuisine. . . and experiencing a country very up close and personal while traveling at a relaxed pace with other active women.
First of all, why bicycle?
Unique Perspective
Bicycling, you will really experience the Netherlands.
Moving at a slower pace, there's time to totally absorb the local flavor. Instead of being blurs from the window of a train or bus, towns and villages come alive! The Dutch are friendly to cyclists ~ you'll meet many local people.
Guilt free treats
Bike all day and eat all you want! What better way to experience local cuisine! No guilt when you know you'll pedal it off in the next hour!
Storybook Scenery - Up Close
BOBtours Women's Northern Netherlands tour is your opportunity tocycle Hollands' storybook north, where you'll see quaint villages separated from the sea only by the dike you are biking along - and the sea is higher than the houses! We'll visit local art and cultural museums, and see more bicycles than you ever imagine existed.
Meet the locals
Traveling at "ground level" in a small group, we'll have many opportunities to interact with the Dutch people. The pace will be comfortable, and if you are a novice, you'll love the flat terrain! We'll cycle 30-35 miles per day, with shorter days at the beginning of our tour. We'll stop often to explore, taste Dutch treats and just enjoy rural Holland. Group size is limited to 8 so we can stay in small B&B's run by friendly Dutch hosts.
Personal Satisfation!
As if those weren't reasons enough, bicycling is great exercise! And there is a great sense of personal satisfaction when you have transported yourself and all you need for the trip - by yourself! That's right! You carry all you'll need for the trip right with you in your saddlebags! You'll learn the art of "packing light" and still have room for souvenirs! What makes it even more fun and challenging is that we'll "dress" for dinner each night!
